....... Left School at the end of the 5th. year 1969
Started work for the then POST OFFICE TELEPHONES later becoming BT PLC
Passed my Driving test first time in November 1970
Was a member of the BARTON HALL YOUTH CLUB, Gloucester Street, Cirencester
Which moved to the old Junior School site in Lewis Lane, to become the FORUM YOUTH CLUB
I then became a voluntary helper at the Youth Club
During this time some friends, Dave Kilby, Robert Slade (Gurney), Geoff Lay, and I built a DISCO unit
calling ourselves:-THE RAMPANT RAM Road show
During School Secondary years and since, I have tried the following Pursuits:-
BADMINTON: no longer play for CIRENCESTER BADMINTON CLUB.
BADMINTON: on Tuesday mornings at Cricklade Leisure Centre, now retired.
SQUASH: used to play (after a fashion) in the Cotswold Sports Centre Ladders now hung my racket
up.
HOCKEY: No longer play. Played at School and for Cirencester Men's Hockey Club when it first
formed. I spent many an afternoon in goal (dangerous)
VOLLEYBALL: used to play at the Leisure centre and friendly matches but no longer play.
SWIMMING: Learnt to swim in my thirties so as to help teach my children learn to swim
Have done Running, Cycling, hashing & Orienteering for short periods of time
SKIING: toke this up at the age of 44 but stopped at age 50.
BOWLS: (flat green) taken up in 2014 after several weeks of an induction course by John Barrett.
PÉTANQUE: With the U3a three times a week and also Saxons Pétanque club Cricklade 3 times a
week a week.
TABLE TENNIS: With the U3A once a week, now retired.
ASTRONOMY: With the U3A once a month, no longer attend, mostly to far above my head.
CROQUET: Joined Cirencester Croquet club in 2022 and still play.
Was married for 10 years and had 3 children, now divorced
I also build basic web sites.
My Family
I have 3 brothers:- Michael, Christopher & David.
Who live respectively in:- Southampton, Cirencester & Swindon.
Both My parents have passed on to a better place.
I have 3 children Louise, Matthew and Rowenna who went to live their mum after the divorce
Louise trained as a mental health nurse and now works in a nursing / care home in Stonehouse. In 2020 she started an Eco friendly shop in
Quedgeley, Gloucester, called Fill Your Boots.
Matthew works as a production manager for a plastics moulding company.
Rowenna did work with Louise but is now a Dental Nurse.
Louise married Richard and now they have 2 daughters Evie and Esme my first 2 Granddaughters, their son Rupert was still born in 2017 very sad.
They now have a son Noah born in December 2018. My first surviving Grandson.
Matthew married Charli and have 2 daughters Fleur and Daphne my 3rd and 4th Granddaughters.
Rowenna and boyfriend Matt had an early arrival on 25th March 2020 at the start of the first national lockdown for covid and this was Alfie.
Rowenna is expecting again an arrival due in August.
